Chico Chukwuma Aligwekwe was born in London, United Kingdom. He attended Eldon Junior School and was frequently called to the Head teathers office or reported to his parents for singing or humming during classes or other school exercises, as his love of music manifested itself at that early age.

His parents decided to move back to Nigeria and the young Chico completed his primary education in Santa Maria School, Aba. He went on to attend Holy Ghost College, Owerri, where he obtained his O'Levels.

Obviously arts inclined Chico opted to study Theatre Arts and obtained a BA Hons Degree from the University of Port Harcourt. On graduation, he decided to return to the UK, where he studied several courses in Film, Media and Television at the University of North London. While working for a local authority, he developed his writing techniques during his several years in the UK, and returned to Nigeria for good in 2003.
