Police Parade False Informant In Search Of Chief Clark’s Residence

The Nigerian Police force has paraded a false informant Ismail Yakubu from Waru, who provided incorrect information which led to the unwarranted and illegal search of Elder Statesman Chief Edwin Clark’s Abuja residence. Speaking at a press briefing with journalist in Abuja today, Police Public Relations Officer Jimoh Moshood, said the Inspector General of Police is not aware and did not order the raid of the Abuja residence of the Elder Statesman.

Moshood stated that though Nigerian Police Force receive information from members of the public on a daily basis across the country, the force will not condone misconducts by any of its personnel that run contrary to the rule of law. He further disclosed that the officer that led the raid along with his team have been queried and are currently in detention.

The informant, Ismail Yakubu explained that he was misinformed by the driver of the taxi he boarded who mentioned that a truck entering the residence of the Elder statesman was carrying ammunitions hence he had to inform the police.

The IGP has also sent a delegation of senior police officers to visit the elder statesman and apologize on behalf of the Nigeria Police Force and IGP. Our correspondent Nathan Williams reports that the informant Ismail Yakubu will be arraigned in court for giving false information that mislead the police force.
